Parx Casino Shippensburg Donates $100,000 in Honor of Its First Anniversary
In honor of Parx Shippensburg’s first year, the property gave $100,000 to a number of local charity organizations.
One of the largest gambling companies in the state, Parx operates one of the 21 legal PA online casinos in addition to two retail sites.
Parx Shippensburg Celebrates its Anniversary by Donating to Charitable Organizations
On February 3, 2023, the Parx Shippensburg location had a spectacular ribbon-cutting event to commemorate its official opening. The facility debuted as the 17th casino in the state with 500 slot machines and 48 electronic table games.
After a whole year, the institution is returning the favor to the neighborhood. Here is the summary of a press statement detailing the allocation and recipients of the funds:
- Shippensburg Area Chamber of Commerce: $31,000;
- Vigilant Hose: $15,000;
- Cumberland Valley Community Connections: $15,000;
- Shippensburg Police Foundation: $10,000;
- Shippensburg EMS: $10,000;
- CV Hose Company: $5,000;
- West End Fire and Rescue: $5,000;
- Christ Among Neighbors: $2,500;
- Shippensburg Produce Outreach: $2,500;
- Shippensburg Meet the Needs: $2,000;
- Circle of Love (Shippensburg): $2,000.
In the press release, Ron Davis, Parx Casino’s Director of Diversity and Community Development, said that the casino is honored to provide impact grants to many deserving nonprofits and charities each year as a good neighbor. The company’s constant goal is to share its successes with the community.
In response to questions about Parx’s gifts, Scott Brown, President and CEO of the Shippensburg Chamber of Commerce, said that the community funds given by Parx Casino greatly assist the non-profits in the area, enabling them to provide additional services to the Shippensburg community.
