A well-known eatery in the area, Chickie’s and Pete’s, has expanded throughout the country in recent years. Thanks to the Commonwealth Court’s decision to overturn the Philadelphia Zoning Board of Adjustments, the company is now permitted to open a sportsbook and off-track betting at its South Philadelphia facility.

Now that it is connected to Parx Casino, which runs one of the thirteen PA online sportsbooks and PA online casinos, South Philadelphia Race & Sportsbook is allowed to relocate its operations inside Chickie’s and Pete’s.

PA Sportsbook is Allowed to be Offered in Chickie’s and Pete’s Restaurant

South Philadelphia is turning into a gaming paradise. Apart from Live! Casino Philadelphia, which is situated in close proximity to the Sports Complex, patrons may now choose to gamble on sports at Chickie’s and Pete’s.

The restaurant is situated in a South Philadelphia retail mall next to a residential neighborhood, less than a mile from the sports facility. The Zoning Board of Adjustments in Philadelphia decided 4-1 against moving the South Philadelphia Race & Sportsbook back in 2021.

According to Law360, the Commonwealth Court overturned the ruling in a statement earlier in January. The Zoning Board of Adjustments in Philadelphia was found to have disregarded the evidence of the South Philadelphia Race & Sportsbook.

The only group the Zoning Board heard from was the Packer Park Civic Association, a local group that was strongly against sportsbook activity inside Chickie’s and Pete’s.
