Mohegan Pennsylvania Will Open an Online Casino Under Its Own Brand in March
When partner Unibet PA Casino Online revealed it was exiting the gambling business, Mohegan Pennsylvania, the operator of the Mohegan Sun casino location, assumed it had lost an online casino operator. But the physical casino is taking things into its own hands, introducing an online casino under the Mohegan Pennsylvania brand.
During this week’s monthly meeting of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), Mohegan Pennsylvania executives revealed some new and exciting information. The operator doesn’t seem to plan to take the place of Unibet’s sportsbook.
Mohegan Intends to Launch a New Online Casino in Unibet’s Place
Mohegan Pennsylvania said in a PGCB presentation that it would be launching its online casino with a soft launch on March 18 with a full launch coming on April 18.
It seems that there will be 22 online Pennsylvania casinos operating at the same time. That will, however, return to 21 once Unibet departs in June of this year.
Doug Harbach, the director of communications for PGCB, said that Mohegan did not have to follow any particular procedure in order to launch its own brand-new PA online casino. However, it must ensure that wins are paid out to Unibet players in a correct manner throughout the changeover.
Rich Roberts, president of Mohegan’s digital gaming division, informed the PGCB that the company would collaborate with Unibet’s staff to guarantee a seamless transfer. Even former Unibet workers have been employed, and as the launch date approaches, additional hiring is anticipated.
Mohegan Pennsylvania is already in the process of notifying Unibet consumers of the upcoming changes. The PGCB granted Mohegan Pennsylvania’s request to renew its interactive gaming certificate at the meeting.
